BY ADALBERTO AVILA
We whore around with our dignity to pay for our indebted shame.
We transact with our precious sanctity to receive the affirmation of perceived valued ones with illusions vainly constructed.
We’re willing to work beyond measure to reassure ourselves we are worthy beings, able and capable of loving and being loved.
We are human spirits with eternal substance, unbelieving our sacredness, we trade it for temporary power, matter, and pleasure.
Yet we forgive, we try, we labor, and we long to see our true selves over and over again.
May we do so and learn to live content.
